ENTRE DEUX
ÉCLUSES
Ce matin, après une nuit presque blanche pour Lise et Marthe
qui
souffraient de multiples piqûres sur les pieds et les
chevilles,
on s'est levés vers 7h00.
Après avoir rempli les réservoirs d'eau et
déjeuné, on s'est rendu à
l'écluse tout
près vers 8h15.
À 8h35 on quittait l'écluse.
À 8h55 on arrivait à une autre écluse.
C'était nuageux et il tombait une petite bruine ce matin
mais
ça n'a pas duré trop longtemps. C'est
quand
même resté nuageux et frisquet pas mal tout
l'avant midi.
Bienvenue dans le "nord " ! ;o)
À 11h25, une autre écluse était en
vue. Nous
l'avons quittée à 11h40. À
chacune des
écluses nous montons de niveau d'à peu
près 15
à 20 pi. selon l'écluse. Demain nous
allons
commencer à redescendre en direction du Lac Champlain.
Pour diner,entre deux écluses, on a mangé des
sandwiches au saumon fumé et chèvre frais.
À 13h30 nous arrivions à Fort Edwards.
Ici aussi
ils offrent l'amarrage au quai gratuit avec
électricité,
eau, et même douche et toilette. Nous passerons un
après-midi relaxe à nourrir les canards et jouer
au
scrabble (Marc a encore gagné, mais juste par trois points
sur
maman).
On s'est arrêtés tôt car pour faire le
prochain bout
on aura encore 5 écluses et puis un grand bout dans un canal
très étroit sans possibilté
d'arrêt, alors
on a besoin d'une journée complète, c'est
pourquoi on va
partir juste demain matin.
Dans l'après midi
les quais se sont
remplis. Un autre voilier et quelques bateaux à
moteur. Et comme le
quai donne sur un parc municipal, les citoyens viennent y prendre des
marches et regardent les bateaux de près. On a que
des compliments,
tout le monde nous dit: il est super votre bateau !
;o)
Pour souper on s'est fait des tacos, arrosés d'une
bière.
Maman et moi souffrons encore de nos piqûres. On
s'est
acheté un stuff à la pharmacie hier mais il n'est
pas
efficace du tout. On est revenus à l'alcool
à
friction. On espère dormir mieux ce soir...
Après la vaisselle c'est une petite soirée
lecture et Lise écrit le journal du jour.

BETWEEN TWO LOCKS
This
morning, after a sleepless night for Lise and Marthe who were suffering
of multiple mosquito bites on the feet and ankles, we got up at 7:00.
After having filled the water tanks and had breakfast, we took off
around 8:15 to get to the nearby lock.
At 8:35 we left the lock.
At 8:55 we arrived at another lock.
It was overcast and some drizzle made the morning quite humid, but it
didn't last too long. It remained cloudy and cool all morning
though. Welcome to the "north" ! ;o)
At 11:25, we had another lock in view. We left it at 11:40.
At each lock the level of the river rises about 15 to 20
feet.
Tomorrow it will change and we will be going down towards
Lake
Champlain.
For lunch, between two locks, we had some smoked salmon and fresh goat
cheese sandwiches.
At 13:30 we arrived at Fort Edwards. Same thing here, they
provide free docking, electricity, water, and even shower and toilet.
We spent a relax afternoon, feeding the ducks and playing
Scrabble.
(Marc won again, just by three points over Marthe).
We stopped early in the day because we need a full day to pass the next
five locks and a long stretch in a man made canal with no possibilities
of anchoring. We will start this stretch early tomorrow.
In the afternoon the docks were filling up with boats. And the docks
are part of a municipal park, so the people from the town come for a
walk and have a close look at the boats. So far we've had
only
good comments as : Your boat is very nice ! ;o)
For dinner we had some tacos and a beer.
Mom and I are still suffering from our mosquito bites. Yesterday we
bought some relief stuff at the pharmacy, but it doesn't work at all !
We are back to the good old alcohol. We hope to sleep better
tonight...
After the dishes, it' a nice evening of reading and Lise is writing the
journal.
