Ce matin nous avons quitté notre mouillage à New
Smyrna Beach à 6h40. Il y avait un pont
"restricted" qui ouvre juste à l'heure, à et vingt et à
moins vingt, donc aux vingt minutes. Il était à 2
milles de notre mouillage. On est arrivé devant
le pont à 7h01 et le gars n'a pas voulu ouvrir,
on a dû attendre à 7h20.
Puis à 9h00 on passait devant Daytona Beach, à
11h00 on passait à Ormond Beach, à 13h00 à Palm
Coast, à 15h00 on passait Murat Point et à 16h30 on
arrivait enfin à St-Augustine.
On a fait 69.1 milles dans la journée, pour un
millage total de 288.3 depuis notre départ.
Pour diner j'ai fait des sandwiches de salami et
jambon, accompagnés d'une salade verte,
vinaigrette au basilic.
Avec un verre de vin blanc.
Les nouveaux oiseaux rencontrés (évidemment je ne
ré-écris pas les espèces que j'ai déjà vues, même
si j'en revois les jours suivants) : Le Bihoreau
Gris (Black Crested Night Heron), le Courlan Brun
(Limpkin), l'Aigrette Bleue ( Little Blue Heron).
J'ai vu pas mal d'oiseaux de proies, mais
incapables de les identifier, des buses sûrement.
En arrivant à la marina de St-Augustine il y
avait un fort courant. Et le gars de la marina nous
attendait sur un ponton, donnant à Ken les
directives pour s'amarrer. Mais le courant était
tellement fort que le bateau a complètement viré de
bord et a frappé l'autre ponton (évidemment du côté
où il n'y avait pas de défenses... :o( )
Enfin... on a fini par s'amarrer comme il faut.
On est tout juste à côté du "Bridge of Lions", ce
fameux pont historique, qu'ils sont en train de
rénover justement, donc il y a présentement un
pont "temporaire" tout en acier, d'installer à côté,
alors ça dépare un peu pas mal la beauté du pont
original. Quand les rénovations seront
terminées, ils vont tout simplement enlever le pont
temporaire et le "Bridge of Lions" aura repris tout
son éclat !
Après qu'on se soit amarrés comme il faut , j'ai
été payé la marina .... hum.. hum... 1.90$ du
pi. + 5.00$ pour l'électricité = 75.00$ bien
sonnés ! Demain en fin d'après midi, on va tout
simplement aller s'ancrer de l'autre côté du pont,
on va sauver 75$ !
Pour souper il me restait 2 saucisses italiennes,
je les ai fait à la poêle, avec des asperges et
un riz aux poivrons jaunes. Le tout arrosé d'un
verre de vin rouge.
Puis je suis allée prendre ma douche avant de
m'installer devant l'ordinateur pour la soirée.
Je vais envoyer mes textes ainsi que mes
dernières photos à Marc. Puis vers 23h00, je vais
essayer de l'appeler sur Skype.
Là il est 20h40.

DAY 6
July 21st, 2006
This
morning we left our anchorage in New Smyrna Beach at 6:40. There
was a "restricted" bridge that opens only on the hour, at 20 past the
hour and 20 before the hour, every 20 minutes. It was about 2 miles
from our anchorage. We arrived before the bridge at 7:01 and the guy
did not want to open, we had to wait until 7:20.
Then at 9:00
we were passing Daytona Beach, at 11:00 it was Ormond Beach, at 13:00
Palm Coast, at 15:0 Murat Point and at 16:30 we arrived at last in
St.Augustine.
We made 69.1 miles today for a total mileage of 288.3 since our departure.
For lunch I made salami and ham sandwiches, with a green salad and basil dressing. With a glass of white wine.
The
new birds encountered (of course I am not writing down the ones that we
have already seen the previous days) : Black Crested Night Heron,
Limpkin, Little Blue Heron. I've seen several birds of prey but
no way to identify them.
When arriving at St. Augustine
marina, there was a strong current. The guy from the marina was waiting
for us on the dock, giving instructions to Ken on how to moor.
But the current was so strong that the boat veered completely and
hit the other dock (on the side of the boat where there was no fenders
:o( )
Finally we succeeded in docking the boat properly.
We
are just in front of the "Bridge of Lions", this historical bridge that
is presently in restoration. Therefore, there is a "temporary"
steel lift bridge behind it. When the renovations will be over,
they will simply remove the temporary bridge and the Bridge of Lions
will be used again.
After we docked the boat I went to pay the
marina fees.... hum..hum... 1.90$ per foot plus 5$ for
électricity = 75$ per day ! Tomorrow night we will simply
go and anchor on the other side of the bridge, and we'll save 75$.
For
dinner we still had 2 itallian sausages that I cooked in the pan with
some asparagus and served with a rice with yellow peppers. And a
glass of red wine.
Then I went to take a shower before sitting
in front of my computer for the evening. I'm going to send my
texts and photos to Marc, then around 23:00 I'll try to call him on
Skype.
Now it's 20:40.
