15 août 2006 Ce matin Ken a fait la grasse matinée jusqu'à passé 8h00. C'est Marc en téléphonant qui l'a réveillé. Moi j'étais réveillée depuis 6h00 et je lisais dans mon lit. Je m'étais couchée à 8h00 hier soir, alors ma nuit était faite. On a mangé des toasts pour déjeuner puis vers 10h00 on s'est préparés pour partir de notre mouillage derrière la Statue de la Liberté pour nous rendre à la marina municipale au bout de la 79e rue. C'était nuageux et il mouillassait, seul jour gris depuis notre départ et il fallait que ce soit quand nous passions devant la Statue de la Liberté. J'ai quand même pris plein de photos, de tous les angles... ;o) On est arrivé à la marina à midi trente. Il y a un resto juste en face alors pour diner on est allé au resto. Puis ensuite on est allé prendre une marche en ville. Broadway est à 2 coins de rues. On est allé dans une librairie Barnes & Nobles pour acheter une carte de la ville, et j'ai acheté un item que je cherchais depuis quelques années sans succès à Montréal : le DVD du film Baraka. Puis on s'est rendu jusque dans Central Park où on a marché un moment. On est passé dans le secteur babptisé "Straberry Fields", en l'honneur de John Lennon. Yoko a d'ailleurs donné 1 million de dollars à la ville de NY pour aménager ce coin de Central Park dédié à la paix. Il y a une mosaique au sol où il est écrit: "Imagine". Et où les gens apportent encore des fleurs. On a découvert quelques épiceries absolument incroyables où on trouve de tout, juste à 2 coins de rues. J'y ai acheté des steaks pour souper. J'ai servi cela avec pommes de terres et brocoli, et une salade verte. Demain on va y retourner et acheter entre autres des gallons d'eau pour le reste du voyage. Je vais apporter ma "caisse de lait" sur roulettes... ;o) Demain en fin de journée la fille de Ken va venir le chercher. Je vais donc me retrouver avec moi-même pour les trois prochains jours. Je vais en profiter pour relaxer, faire un peu de ménage dans le bateau, et me promener dans les environs. Tout le long de la rivière c'est un parc longiligne où les gens viennent pour faire leur jogging, roller blade ou à vélo, ou tout simplement prendre une marche. Et c'est plein de végétation. Vraiment un super endroit pour être à NY, en plein centre de Manhattan. À la marina, il y a des "houseboats" où les gens vivent à bord à l'année. Quelques uns sont pas mal décrépits.... ;o) Ce soir après le souper, on a écouté Baraka dans le cockpit sur l'ordinateur de Ken. Là il est 22h30, alors mon heure de dodo est arrivée. À demain... XXX	15 August 2006 This morning Ken was staying late in bed passed 8am. It is marc who woke him up when he called. I was already awake since 6am and I was reading in bed. I went to bed at 8pm last evening so I had enough sleep. We ate toasts for breakfast and around 10am we got ready to leave our anchorage behind the Statue of Liberty to go to the municipality marina at the end of the 79th street. It was cloudy and rainy. The fisrt grey day since we started our trip. And it has to be while we were passing by the Statue of Liberty. I took some pictures anyway at different angles...;o) We arrived at the marina at 1230pm. There is a restaurant just in front where we had our lunch. Then we went for a walk in town. Broadway is 2 blocks from here. I bought a city map at Barnes & Nobles and there I found an item I have been looking for for many years: Baraka movie on DVD. Then we went to central park where we walked for a while. We passed by a place called "Strawberry Fields" to John Lennon memory. Yoko, his widow, gave 1 million dollars to NY city to set up that shrine dedicated to Peace. On the ground there is a mosaic with only one word written on it: IMAGINE. And many people still bring flowers today. We discovered some shops absolutely incredible. You can find anything. Again just 2 blocks away. There I bought some steaks for dinner. I served them with potatoes and brocoli, and a green salad. Tomorrow we will come back to buy some gallons of water for the remaining of the trip. I will bring my milky box on wheel with me. ;o) Tomorrow, late, Ken's daughter will come for him. Then I will be on my own for the next 3 days. I will take the opportunity to relax, clean up the boat and walk around to explore the area. All a long the Hudson River it is a Park where people come to walk, jog, roller blade, bicycle or take the dog for a walk. There are a lot of trees. Splendid place in the middle of Manhattan, NY. At the marina there are houseboats where people live all year round. Some are in really bad shape. :o) Tonight after dinner I will watch Baraka in the cockpit on Ken's laptop. Now it is 1030, so it is bed time. See you tomorrow... XXX

On ne pouvait pas passer devant la grande dame sans se faire photographier. We couldn't pass in front of the great lady without our picture taken..


Toute bonne chose a une fin et nous passons notre chemin vers notre destination, le 79th Street Boat Basin. . Any good thing comes to an end and we move away towards our destination, the 79th Street Boat Basin.

À notre arrivée, nous sommes allé prendre une marche dans Central Park. Ici c'est le coin appelé Strawberry Fields en l'honneur de John Lennon. When we arrived we went for a walk in Central Park. Here is the area called Strawberry Fields in honour of John Lennon.	On y trouve une céramique comémorative où les gens déposent des fleurs. There is a ceramic in his memory where people lay down flowers.
